Since I am designing my own magazine pages (Front cover, Contents page and Double page spread), I will be conducting research to see the different conventions of music magazines and what makes them successful. I have included research into the three magazine pages which I will be creating: front cover, contents page and double page spread. When I find out what the conventions are, I will then analyse them and furthermore will be able to decide which aspects I will include in my own magazine. The conventions that I put into my music magazine pages should make them seem more professional and realistic to my target audience.
To identify a range of magazine front cover components, I have microanaylsed the covers of 3 music magazines: Q, Mizz and Clash. I have found that all 3 magazines use similar features, such as mastheads, captions and main graphic images; showing that I need to include these standard components, and more, in my own magazine to create a professional and realistic effect. Here are the annotations I have made on the magazine front covers.

Furthermore, I have microanaylsed 3 double page spreads. Typical, popular conventions of a DPS are columns, drop capitals, quotations and main images that usually take up one side of the page. I will take into consideration these conventions when producing my own magazine to hopefully create a similar effect.

I have microanaylsed 3 contents pages. Popular conventions of a contents page include columns, small images, page numbers and narrative/visual teases. I will take into consideration these conventions create a similar effect on my own magazine.
